Our History

beginning | learning | growing

In 1973, Robert Hoffman began his practice in a two story “Little Brick” adjacent to Duffy’s Tavern in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. In the early years, the practice focused mainly upon residential construction along with a few civic projects that earned the firm the "Centre Region Conscientious Award" for community improvement.

From that humble beginning, over the next 30 years the firm expanded its project diversity and scale of work. In 2014, J. Michael Leakey joined Robert Hoffman, forming Hoffman Leakey Architects, LLC. Along with his 15 years' experience as an Architect and Project Manager for Penn State University, Michael also brings 20+ years of construction and contracting experience to HLA. HLA has employed and trained a number of young, aspiring architects in the business of Architecture; each participating in the total process from initial design to construction administration.

Today, Hoffman Leakey Architects utilizes their experience and knowledge of construction and renovation for a vast array of projects in the Centre Region and beyond.
