Hamilton Hall Bathroom Renovations & Bedroom Additions at West Halls Housing Complex of Penn State University Park’s campus

Located in the West Halls Housing Complex of Penn State University Park’s campus, this project involved the redesign and modernization of the existing gang style bathrooms into single user bathrooms. The overall project consisted of three (3) different bathroom stacks, each completed over the course of three semesters, one stack per semester. In addition to the bathroom renovations, this project also involved creating new bedrooms in the existing attic spaces as well as various building upgrades. Since Hamilton Hall was built in the 1950s, there were various challenges and struggles that HLA and our design team had to work through, as existing condition documentation did not fully depict unforeseen building conditions. We worked very closely with the Construction Management team during construction to work through these challenges and then ensure that we translated these lessons learned to the next stacks to avoid the same challenges.
